Pachuca, Mexico – as temperatures begin to drop, teh city of Pachuca is extending a helping hand to its most vulnerable residents. Mayor Jorge Reyes officially opened the doors to the city’s winter shelter for the 2024-2025 season, providing a safe and welcoming space for those seeking refuge from the cold.
Located at 703 Amapola Street in the Ampliación Santa Julia neighborhood, the shelter will operate from December 13th to February 28th, offering a warm haven from 6:30 PM to 8:00 AM daily.
“This shelter is a testament to our commitment to the well-being of all Pachuca residents,” said mayor Reyes during a tour of the facility alongside Isabel Vite, Secretary of Human and Social Development. “We want to ensure that everyone has a safe and agreeable place to stay during the coldest months.”

The shelter has the capacity to accommodate up to 30 individuals per night, providing not only a warm bed but also a nourishing evening snack and breakfast. Trained staff will be on hand to ensure the safety and well-being of guests, with medical personnel available to address any health concerns.
Recognizing the importance of personal hygiene,each guest will receive a personal hygiene kit,along with blankets and access to showers.In a heartwarming gesture, the shelter has also designated a special area for those who choose to keep their furry companions close. This thoughtful inclusion ensures that both people and their pets can find comfort and security during the winter months.
