Wisconsin Man Returns From Europe After Faking Drowning,⁢ Citing Family

MADISON, Wis. ‍ –‍ A wisconsin man who sparked a frantic search after faking his own ‍drowning and fleeing to Europe has returned to the United States, citing a ⁣desire⁣ to⁢ be with his family.

Tyler Doyle, 22, disappeared in Lake Michigan on January 10th, prompting a massive search effort involving the Coast Guard and local authorities. Days later, authorities discovered evidence suggesting⁣ Doyle had staged his disappearance.

“We found his truck abandoned near the lake with his wallet and phone inside,” said Sheriff David ‍Clarke of Kenosha County. “There were also signs of tampering with the vehicle, leading us to believe this was not an accident.”

Further investigation revealed that‍ Doyle had purchased a one-way ticket to Europe shortly before his disappearance.

After weeks of being⁢ on the run, Doyle contacted authorities and expressed his ⁤desire to return home.

“He reached out to us, saying he missed his family and wanted to‌ face ‍the consequences of his actions,” Sheriff Clarke explained.

Doyle was taken into custody ⁤upon his arrival at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday.⁤ He is currently being‍ held at the Kenosha County Jail pending charges related‍ to filing ‍a false police report and obstructing justice.

The motive behind Doyle’s elaborate hoax remains unclear.

“We’re still piecing together ⁣the events leading⁣ up to his disappearance,” sheriff Clarke said. “But it’s clear that his actions caused a great‍ deal of⁢ distress and wasted valuable resources.”

Doyle’s family has declined to comment on the situation.
