Without a laboratory since 2017, the inhabitants of the Saint-Remi district of Reims benefit from a new care offer
New Laboratory in Reims Brings Healthcare Closer to Home
We’ve all needed to get a blood test, sample, or analysis at some point. Accessing these services can be difficult, especially in rural areas and even in city centers. Residents of Reims, particularly in the Saint-Remi district, faced this challenge since their nearest lab closed in 2017. However, the situation has improved significantly with the opening of a new independent organic laboratory, Ard’aisne, at 4 rue Simon on January 20, 2025.
According to Mathilde, the secretary of the new lab, Saint-Remi was effectively “a white area.” She notes, “The neighborhood was relient on visiting laborroties several kilometers from their residence, often spending significant time in a car or using public transport.” With the new formation, folks living around can walk to the laboratory in five to ten minutes.
Convenience and Accessibility
Consider the experience of a 50-year-old patient, who shared her thoughts on Friday while visiting the new lab on rue Simon. She mentioned, “Previously, getting a blood test required a lot of effort, generally coupled with another errand, such as visiting my audiologist, to make it to a distant lab four or five kilometers away from my residence. Now the situation is completely different, with a convenient establishment right at my doorstep.”
“The lab was already popular but when the families found out trips were available and safe and within a reasonable timeframe it has become extremely popular.” explains “Those trips are available in Rouen for individuals to have full access to all services and receive “proper” and timely care.”
Addressing Elderly and Mobility Concerns
The opening of this lab benefits not only the general public but also the elderly, those using wheelchairs, and individuals mobility challenges. Overall, this simplifies access to medical care in the Saint-Remi district, ensuring that more residents can receive essential tests and analyses without the strain of long journeys or dependence on public transportation.
