MIAMI (AP) — Lando Norris secured victory in the Formula 1 sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, leading a McLaren 1-2 finish wiht teammate Oscar Piastri. The race, punctuated by numerous incidents and unusual circumstances, concluded under safety car conditions.

Liam Lawson faces a potential penalty for causing a collision with Fernando Alonso. If penalized, Yuki Tsunoda of Red Bull would move into eighth place. Tsunoda was the first driver to gamble on slick tires,a move that saw him set the fastest sector times.
Leclerc’s Pre-race Incident
charles Leclerc’s sprint race ended before it began. During the pre-start phase, as drivers left the pit lane for the starting grid, increased rainfall created treacherous conditions. Leclerc, on intermediate tires, slid off track at Turn 10. “No, no! I try to come back. Total aquaplaning, really total aquaplaning,” Leclerc reported. “I didn’t even push…I can’t make it back. I’m so sorry.”
Leclerc, who qualified sixth on Friday, sustained damage to the right side tires and wheel suspension. His Ferrari limped a few meters before he was forced to retire.
Shortly after, Oliver Bearman of Haas also slid off track but avoided contact and was able to continue. “It’s really very, very wet,” Piastri noted on the starting grid. “It will be difficult to see something, even if you drive in front.”
