Berlin, Germany – Acclaimed German filmmaker Wolfgang Becker, best known for his poignant comedy-drama “Good Bye, Lenin!”, has died at the age of 67. Born in 1954 in Hemer, West germany, Becker’s passion for filmmaking led him to study at the Free University of Berlin from 1974 to 1979. He further honed his craft at the German Film and Television academy.
Becker’s talent quickly gained recognition. In 1988, his film “Schmetterlinge” (Butterflies) won the prestigious Golden Leopard award at the Locarno International Film Festival.
