Bronx Woman brutally Attacked in Early Morning Assault
New York, NY – A 26-year-old woman was the victim of a horrifying attack in the Bronx early Wednesday morning, leaving the community shaken. Police say the woman was followed by a stranger before being brutally beaten and sexually assaulted.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. as the victim walked along Virginia Avenue near Wood Avenue in the Parkchester neighborhood. Authorities say the assailant followed the woman before ambushing her, striking her repeatedly on the right side of her body. He then proceeded to sexually assault her.
“This is a truly disturbing crime,” said a spokesperson for the NYPD. “We are committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice and providing support to the victim.”
The victim was transported to a local hospital were she is listed in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene southbound on Virginia Avenue and then eastbound on Mcgraw Avenue. Police are urging anyone with data about the attack to come forward.
