Wife Conspires with Lover to Murder Husband, Hires Hitman for ₹4.5 Lakh

New Delhi: In a chilling case of marital betrayal and murder, a woman has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with her lover to kill her husband, hiring a hitman to carry out the brutal act. The victim, Pritam, was murdered by Vijay, who was allegedly paid ₹4.5 lakh by Pritam’s wife, Soniya, to eliminate him.The motive appears to be Soniya’s extramarital affair with Rohit, who has also been apprehended by the police.
The Grisly Murder and Subsequent Cover-Up
The inquiry, which began with a missing person report filed by Soniya on July 20, took a dark turn when pritam’s digital and financial footprints vanished for weeks. The breakthrough came when Pritam’s mobile number,inactive for nearly a year,suddenly pinged in sonipat,leading investigators to Rohit.
Initially evasive, Rohit eventually confessed to his involvement, revealing a sinister plot hatched with Soniya. According to police, Soniya paid Vijay to kill Pritam. The murder itself was carried out on the night Pritam’s wife slept on the terrace. Vijay then disposed of Pritam’s body in a drain near Agwanpur and sent Soniya a video of the body, which was later deleted.
Haryana Police Recover Unidentified Body
Around the same time as Pritam’s disappearance, haryana Police had recovered an unidentified male body, which remained unidentified until Delhi Police connected the dots nearly a year later. DNA samples from the Haryana post-mortem will now be used to conclusively identify the body as Pritam’s.
Following the murder, Soniya reportedly sold Pritam’s auto-rickshaw for ₹4.5 lakh and gave his mobile phone to Rohit.
A Troubled Marriage and a Dangerous Affair
soniya and Pritam’s relationship began when Soniya was just 15. They married against their families’ wishes, a union that was later accepted by their families. The couple had three children together, including a 16-year-old son and two daughters.
Rohit, the alleged lover, has a history of criminal involvement, with four previous cases related to murder and arms possession. He married in April 2025 and worked as a private cab driver, continuing his extramarital affair with soniya throughout.
The police are currently searching for Vijay, the alleged hitman, who remains at large. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the full extent of the conspiracy.
