Women Charged with ABH: Larne High Street Attack

Two Co Antrim women have been charged with causing actual bodily harm to two victims during an alleged incident on Larne High Street.
While 32-year-old Kirsten McCalmont appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court today, the summons against Sarah Beech (33) was deemed not served.

McCalmont, from Drumahoe Gardens in Larne and Beech, are jointly charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on two women on 27 October last year.
In addition to the two charges of ABH, Beech, previously with an address in Larne but now of River View in Ballymena, is to be prosecuted for using disorderly behaviour on High Street in Larne, on the same date.
When the charges were put to McCalmont, she opted to have her case dealt with in the Magistrates Court and entered a not guilty plea.

Defence counsel Neil Moore told the court that when the case comes to contest, the two complainants, and the officer in charge of the case, will have to testify.
Freeing McCalmont and excusing her from attending on the next occasion, District Judge Nigel Broderick adjourned the case to 28 August “ to fix a date for contest.”
