Monarch Aims to Transform Women’s Healthcare with New Practice Model
Updated June 11, 2025
A new company, Monarch, launched Tuesday to address two significant issues in healthcare: the misdiagnosis and mistreatment of women and widespread physician burnout. The American Medical Association reported that over 45% of physicians experienced burnout symptoms in 2023.
Monarch seeks to empower women’s health providers by offering the support and technology needed to establish independant practices, focusing on proactive and thoughtful care.
Anna Lohrfink, co-founder and chief product officer of Monarch, said patients and physicians share a desire for more time and proactive care. Monarch aims to help physicians transition to a model that better serves women, keeping them healthy long-term.
Monarch partners with physicians, often OB/GYNs, to understand their existing patient base and goals for a new practice. The company assists with operations, real estate, pricing strategy, branding, and email campaigns.
After setup, Monarch helps physicians retain and grow their practice through webinars, Q&A sessions, and team training. Ongoing support is provided to help the practice scale. Each practice sets its own pricing, typically between $300 and $550 monthly, based on services, patient panel size, and market.
Services offered include bone health, cardiometabolic health, menopause support, and weight care. While practices are primarily brick-and-mortar, telehealth options are available. The first Monarch-enabled practice is located in Los Angeles.
Lohrfink noted that customary models often limit patient visits to 10-15 minutes, with physicians seeing around 30 patients daily. Monarch’s model allows for approximately 45-minute visits.Physicians retain complete ownership and clinical decision-making freedom. monarch charges a fee for its services, without taking equity.
“We think it’s so vital that our doctors retain control and ownership of their practices,” Lohrfink said. “We think our job is to empower physicians…physicians are looking for a way to provide better care, and we just want to make that possible.”
The name Monarch reflects the company’s goal of empowering physicians and patients to take control of their healthcare. Lohrfink said the ultimate aim is to rebuild women’s healthcare.
other companies like Hint Health and Headway also assist physicians in building independent practices, focusing on direct primary care and mental health, respectively.
What’s next
Monarch plans to expand its services and partnerships to further support women’s health physicians in creating patient-centered, independent practices across the country.
