Women’s PGA Championship Purse⁣ Soars to Record $12 ‍Million

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship has considerably increased its purse to ⁣$12 million, matching the U.S. Women’s Open for the largest purse this season. ⁣The⁣ tournament is being held at Fields⁤ Ranch‌ East at PGA Frisco ‌in​ Texas.

The champion from the field ⁤of 156 players will​ earn $1.8 million. Last year’s purse for ⁤the Women’s PGA Championship was $10.4 million.

Paul⁣ Knopp,⁢ KPMG chair adn CEO, told Golf Digest the purse increase‌ is part of⁤ “creating a standard of excellence in⁢ women’s⁢ golf.”

“We ‍look at ​it as the ultimate strategy when we think about​ the excellence we’re‍ trying ⁤to bear to bring success,” Knopp said. “We continue to play this tournament on iconic courses that are recognized by⁤ the⁣ golf community every ⁤year. We’re ‌excited about ⁤where we’re going.”

In 2024, Amy Yang of South⁣ Korea secured her first major ⁢title at ​the Women’s ‍PGA Championship, held at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, ⁢Wash. ⁣Yang finished with a 7-under⁣ 281, defeating Lilia Vu, Jin Young‌ Ko of South Korea, and Miyu ‌Yamashita of Japan ‍by three strokes.
