Ryana macdonald-Gay delivered a career-best performance, taking 4-14 as Surrey defeated Lancashire Thunder by 53 runs in the Women’s T20 Blast. The victory extends Surrey’s lead at the top of the table to seven points after Lancashire’s batting order crumbled.

Meanwhile, at Edgbaston, Essex nearly secured a win against the second-placed bears. Despite a strong 94-run partnership between Cordelia Griffith and Maddie Penna, and tight bowling, Charis Pavely’s half-century pushed the Bears to a two-wicket victory on the penultimate ball.

“We probably thought 171 was under par as 180-200 was the goal when I went in and we believed we could defend it,” Franklin said.
“We’ve been telling Ryana to back her strengths and keep it as simple as possible and getting that ball to nip back in,” Franklin added,highlighting MacDonald-Gay’s crucial role.
