Pamela Woodard, MD, a radiologist at Washington university (washu) school of Medicine in St. Louis, has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), one of the highest honors in the medical field. The election, announced October 20, 2025, during the NAM’s annual meeting, recognizes Dr. Woodard’s distinguished contributions to cardiovascular imaging and biomedical research. the National Academy of Medicine elected 100 new members this year.
A Career Dedicated to Cardiovascular Imaging
Dr.Woodard joined the WashU Medicine faculty in 1997 and has as become a leading figure in the field of cardiovascular imaging.Her research focuses on developing and applying advanced imaging techniques to improve the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. She founded the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Core at WashU in 2017, a resource that supports cutting-edge research in the field.
Her contributions have been widely recognized throughout her career. She was named Outstanding Researcher by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in 2021 and a Distinguished Investigator by the Academy of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research in 2015. Currently,she serves as president of the Academy of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research and was recently elected president of the American College of Radiology (2024-2025). She is slated to receive the Gold Medal from the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging in 2025.
