Today’s Wordle ⁣proved to be a surprising ⁤turn of events, with the usually infallible Wordle Bot taking a full⁤ six⁢ tries to solve the puzzle. This uncharacteristic ‌struggle allowed me to not⁢ only guess the word in five tries but also to overtake the Bot in our ongoing competitive score.

Today’s Wordle Bot Performance

Miraculously, the Wordle Bot took six tries today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen⁣ Wordle Bot take ⁢six tries before.Five a couple⁤ times, but six? I don’t think so. ‍Good news for me, though! I get -1 point for guessing in ‍five⁤ and 1 point for beating the Bot, which leaves me with 0 points.Even doubling 0 for 2XP Friday just equals zero. However, the Bot gets‌ -2 for guessing in six and -1 for losing to me. That’s -3 x 2 for 2XP Friday, or -6 total. Even getting 0 ⁢today, I take the lead for the first time sence the very beginning of July. Our totals narrow to:

Erik: 8‍ points

Wordle ‍Bot: 6 points

How To Play Competitive⁤ Wordle

For those new to‍ our little challenge, here’s how we keep score:

⁣ Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in ‌3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0‌ points; guessing in 5 is -1 ‍points; guessing in ‍6 is -2 points⁢ and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
⁤If you beat your opponent you get 1 point.⁤ If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 ⁤point. Add it‍ up‌ to get your score. Keep a ⁢daily running score ‍or⁤ just play for a new score each day.
Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your‌ points-positive or negative.
You can keep⁢ a running⁣ tally or just play⁤ day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology: The Humble “Gofer”

the word “gofer” comes from the phrase ”go for” as in ⁣someone who “goes for” things on behalf of others.‍ It originated in American English in the 1950s, especially‌ in office or film settings, to describe a junior employee or‍ assistant sent to fetch ⁢items or run ⁤errands. The word⁢ is⁢ unrelated to the⁤ animal gopher, though⁤ the ⁤similar spelling often causes confusion.
