Sydney Minsky Sargeant Announces Solo Album ‘Lunga’
Sydney Minsky Sargeant, known for his work wiht Working Men’s Club, is set to release his debut solo album, ‘Lunga,’ on Sept. 12 via Domino. The album is available for pre-order.
‘Lunga’ represents a departure from Sargeant’s previous work, showcasing songs written over several years, some dating back to his teenage years in Todmorden. The album delves into personal themes of meaning and understanding.
“I’m trying to wear my heart-on-my-sleeve a bit more; these songs come from a search for meaning and understanding,” Sargeant saeid. “I’m always trying to unpick myself and those around me,the ones I love and loved the most. There were thoughts and feelings that these songs helped me express, address and make sense of.”
The album’s title, ‘Lunga,’ reflects a message of unity, Sargeant said, hoping it connects with listeners in a polarized world. The lead single, “I Don’t wanna,” features acoustic guitar and synths.
“Confide in me / I’ll put down everyone / I’ll put down everything / If loving this is wrong then I don’t wanna be right.”
