World AIDS Day Commemorated in Zaragoza’s Parque Bruil

Zaragoza commemorates World‍ AIDS Day with Call for Continued‍ Action

zaragoza, Spain – The‍ city⁢ of Zaragoza joined the global ⁢community in marking World AIDS Day on Sunday, December ‌1st, with a poignant ceremony at Parque Bruil. ⁢The event, organized by⁢ the Aragon Government, the Zaragoza City Council,⁢ and organizations dedicated to ​eradicating HIV, ‍served‍ as ​a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight against the virus.

The ceremony, held ⁤near a‌ plaque installed ⁣by the city​ council to⁤ honor‌ the ⁤cause, featured a moving manifesto ⁣reading by the Fundación Cruz Blanca, representing ‌the diverse group of ​participating associations.

The Zaragoza City Council‍ underscored its commitment to raising awareness about HIV, emphasizing‌ the importance of prevention, early detection, and social sensitivity surrounding ‌the disease. iconic landmarks across the city,including the Etopia⁢ digital facade,the DPZ ​building ⁤in Plaza de España,and the Paraninfo,were‌ illuminated ⁣with ​the red ribbon,a ‍universal symbol⁢ of solidarity with‍ those affected⁣ by HIV/AIDS.

Zaragoza’s dedication to​ combating HIV extends beyond symbolic ⁤gestures. In 2016, the city signed the Paris Declaration, a global initiative aimed at‍ improving ​the quality of life for people living ‍with HIV‍ and ultimately ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. This⁣ aspiring goal seeks to achieve the “95-95-95” target: ‌ensuring that 95% of people with HIV are diagnosed, 95% ‍of those diagnosed ​are receiving treatment, and ⁤95% of those on treatment have ⁢an undetectable viral load, rendering the virus untransmittable.

The city’s commitment to HIV prevention and awareness is further demonstrated through the work of its Social Policies department. The department’s Specialized Services unit conducts awareness ‌campaigns and implements health promotion⁢ programs through the‌ Young Health Zone and the Municipal Center for Addiction Prevention and Care.​ These⁤ programs focus on prevention, early diagnosis, and timely referral​ to healthcare services for treatment.

Adding to the day’s events, the Joaquín Roncal center hosted the opening of‍ the “En el sida pintamos todos” ‌(In AIDS We all paint) poster exhibition. ⁣Featuring entries ⁣from the⁤ 18th edition of the contest, the exhibition, organized by the City Council in collaboration with​ various HIV/AIDS organizations, showcases the power⁢ of⁣ art in‌ raising awareness and‌ promoting dialog around the issue.The exhibition is open to the ⁢public until December 30th.
