Your Voice Counts: How to Help Crown the 2025 World Athletes of the Year
The world’s most exceptional track and field athletes are within reach of ultimate recognition, and you have a direct role in deciding who will be celebrated at the 2025 World Athletics Awards.Voting is now open for the Women’s and Men’s Track Athlete of the Year, offering fans a significant possibility to influence the outcome.
This isn’t simply a popularity contest. Your participation,through likes on Facebook and Instagram,and reposts on X (formerly Twitter),carries real weight. Each interaction counts as a single vote, and fan voting will determine 25% of the final result. The remaining 50% is allocated to the World Athletics Council, and another 25% to the broader World Athletics Family.
The initial fan voting period runs from today, October 13th, through October 19th.The top two vote-getters in each category will advance to become finalists. But the process doesn’t end ther.
Following the initial round, dedicated voting phases will spotlight other athletic achievements. Field athlete voting will take place from October 20th to October 26th, and voting for Out-of-Stadium Athletes will be open from October 27th to November 2nd. This tiered approach ensures comprehensive recognition across all disciplines.
The final decision rests with the fans once more. From November 3rd, a conclusive vote will be held on the World Athletics+ platform, narrowing the field of six finalists in each category down to the overall Men’s and women’s world Athlete of the Year winners.
Beyond the headline athlete awards, the 2025 World Athletics Awards will also honor rising talent with Male and Female Rising Star awards.Recognizing the crucial role of mentorship, a coaching Achievement Award will be presented. Further accolades include the Woman of the Year award, a party of photographic artistry with the Photograph of the Year, recognition for national governing bodies with the World Athletics Member Federation Award, and the prestigious World Athletics President’s Award.
