Daryl Gurney ⁢lauded his⁢ playing⁤ partner, Josh Rock, following their⁤ recent victory.Speaking Monday as he prepared to return home, Gurney⁤ said⁢ there was little time for party after⁣ a demanding Sunday of competition.

The pair’s path to victory included wins against South Africa on Saturday, followed by matches against the Republic of Ireland and Germany earlier on⁤ Sunday,⁢ culminating in⁢ a final showdown against⁣ Wales. gurney ⁢emphasized the mental ⁢fortitude required⁤ and praised⁢ Rock’s⁤ performance, predicting a stellar career for him.

Gurney, who secured his third major title since the 2018 Players ⁤Championship by hitting a double eight, acknowledged feeling the pressure. He noted that, of the four finalists, he was the lowest⁢ ranked.

⁣ ⁤ “Josh ⁤was immense, the best player in the competition for me,” Gurney said. “His scoring was unreal, he pumped them in at perfect times. He⁢ has ‍been on fire all‍ year, a future world champion, future major ⁤champion and just a pleasure to play⁣ with him. He made my job a lot easier.”

Gurney also highlighted their collaborative approach during the‍ matches.”We made the decisions‍ together. He wanted to throw first and I was more ⁤than happy to let him ‍do⁣ that,” he said.

“Those boys have been there and done it ⁣more frequently than⁣ me over the last couple‍ of years, so⁢ I’m still buzzing now,” he added, reflecting on‍ the victory.
