World-Famous Choir Guest in Kematen

The world -famous “Don Kosaken Choir Serge Jaroff” is guest on Monday, September 8th at 7.30 p.m. in the Haus der Baus in Kematen on the initiative of Kematenkultur.
The choir was founded in 1921 after his escape from Russia in Turkish captivity by Serge Jaroff. After concerts all over Europe, the choir was based until shortly before the Second World War era in Berlin. After a concrete reference to an impending war with Russia, Serge Jaroff and the choir members were advised to leave Germany. By relationships with a Berlin concert agency, it was possible for the choir to emigrate to America, where the choir members became sedentary and received American citizenship. From there, the choir’s world career, which under the direction of Serge Jaroff, led the choir all over the globe until 1979.
In 2001 Wanja Hlibka was overwritten the rights for the name Don Kosaken Chor Serge Jaroff ‘. Since then, the choir, based in Germany/Bavaria, has been on the road again across Europe.
