A 2026 report by Travelbag, highlighted by Forbes on April 14, 2026, has identified the 10 most popular beaches globally for the current year. This report follows a broader trend of expert-led travel rankings designed to guide tourists toward the world’s most distinctive shorelines.
Expert Rankings and Global Influence
Complementing the Travelbag findings, the 2025 list of the world’s 50 best beaches was compiled through the votes of more than 1,000 travel journalists, bloggers, and influencers. This ranking emphasizes the impact of exceptional beaches on personal well-being and encourages the exploration of nature’s shorelines, specifically highlighting Maya Bay in Thailand.
The selection process for these rankings involves specialized beach ambassadors. These experts include Sonya, who has visited 82 countries and flown over 1.5 million miles, and Nicole, a California native and travel content creator who has visited nearly 60 islands specializing in remote tropical destinations.
Other ambassadors contributing to the expertise include Natalie, who focuses on the unique marine life and local stories of various islands, and Jyo, who specializes in remote exotic islands and warm weather destinations. Helen, part of a Finnish-Australian-American family based in Western Australia, also provides regional expertise for the rankings.
Diverse Global Destinations
Beyond the most popular lists, other travel guides highlight breathtaking locations across six continents, focusing on activities such as diving, surfing, and snorkeling. In Europe, Praia da Adraga is noted for its location on the edge of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park in Portugal.

In Africa, Dolfynstrand in Namibia is distinguished by its position on the edges of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The beach is described as An unending expanse of blue backed by the world’s oldest desert
.
Dolfynstrand is characterized by its remote location and a morning fog that often persists until lunchtime, which is linked to the presence of numerous shipwrecks along the coastline. Travelers visiting the area can drive 30 minutes to Walvis Bay to observe thousands of seals.
Access to Dolfynstrand requires flying into Johannesburg (JNB) and then taking an Airlink flight to Walvis Bay (WVB), as there are no direct flights from the United States to Namibia. Other African destinations noted for being crowd-free include Benguerra Island in Mozambique.
2026 Travel Trends
The focus on specific beach destinations aligns with broader travel projections for the year. National Geographic has released a list of the top 25 travel destinations for 2026, indicating a continued global interest in exploring high-value natural and cultural sites.
