Wrapping Up a Brighter Future: Nagasaki International University Launches Innovative Musubi Education Initiative for Pharmacy Students
KAKEHASHI Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Nakao Yutaka; Representative Director and CEO: Nakagawa Takashi; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) has decided to implement an educational initiative for pharmacy students at Nagasaki International University (Head office: Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture; President: Nakamura Seiji) utilizing the pharmacy experience assistant “Musubi” and medication notebook “Pocket Musubi” provided by the Company.
● Background
The core curriculum revision for 2022 defined “the ability to utilize information and science technology” as one of the basic qualities and abilities required of a pharmacist. In response to this, pharmaceutical education is expected to develop human resources who can further demonstrate the professional capabilities of pharmacists by making full use of ICT.
Nagasaki International University has decided to use our Musubi and Pocket Musubi to educate pharmacy students. We will contribute to promoting digital transformation in the medical industry by providing opportunities to practice medication instructions and follow-ups using technology.

Pharmacies and pharmacists are being asked to shift from dealing with objects to dealing with people. Pharmacy digital transformation is unavoidable from the perspective of improving the efficiency of work with objects and the quality of work with people. People need courage to adopt something they don’t know. That’s why it’s important to learn about and experience digital transformation in pharmacies from student days. Musubi is easy to operate, and I feel it is an excellent educational tool, and I have high hopes for its educational effectiveness.

We provide functions that enable patients to use pharmacies safely and conveniently, such as a “medication period follow-up function” that screens patients who need follow-up based on their medication status and enables pharmacists to take appropriate action without burdening them, and a “prescription sending function” that enables patients to send an image of their prescription before visiting the pharmacy, shortening waiting time at the pharmacy.
