Wrestling Star Vinesh Phogat’s Career in Jeopardy: Fails Doping Test, Receives Notice from NADA
National Anti-Doping Agency Sends Notice to Wrestler Vinesh Phogat
The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued a notice to wrestler and Congress candidate in Haryana, Vinesh Phogat, seeking an explanation for his unavailability for a scheduled drug test.
Athletes registered in the NADA Registered Testing Pool (RTP) are required to report at the designated time and location for drug testing. Failure to appear for the test as per the provided information will be treated as a failure.
According to NADA, Vinesh Phogat had informed that he would be available for a drug test at his residence in Sonipat on September 9. However, when a dope control officer was sent to investigate, Phogat was not found at the location.
Vinesh Phogat must now provide evidence that he was present at the specified location at the designated time. If he fails to do so, it will be considered a placement failure. The National Anti-Doping Agency can take action against the player if he fails such tests three times within a 12-month period.
Vinesh Phogat’s Career and Upcoming Elections
Vinesh Phogat is set to contest the Haryana assembly elections on a Congress ticket. After reaching the finals of wrestling at the Paris Olympics, he was disqualified due to a weight gain of 100 grams and subsequently quit wrestling. He then joined the Congress party and is now a candidate from the Julana constituency in Jind district. The elections for 90 assembly seats in Haryana are scheduled to take place on October 5.
