Wrexham Adds Ryan Hardie to Boost Championship Role
Wrexham has acquired forward Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle for an undisclosed fee.Hardie, 28, brings critically important experience to Wrexham as they prepare for their upcoming Championship season.He previously played for Plymouth for five and a half years, initially on loan before making a permanent move.
During his time with the Pilgrims, Hardie scored 74 goals in 248 appearances. he played a key role in their promotions to League One in 2020 and the Championship in 2023. Despite his 12 goals last season, including a notable FA Cup goal against Liverpool, he couldn’t prevent Plymouth’s relegation.
Wrexham, fresh off their own promotion to the Championship, aims to leverage hardie’s experience in the second tier. He has scored 22 goals in 77 Championship appearances over the past two seasons,demonstrating his ability to perform at that level. He also highlighted his previous experience in the Championship. “The last couple of seasons, it’s been good getting experience in the EFL Championship and it’s experience I can lean on now. I’ve enjoyed playing there, and I’ve managed to score a few goals, so hopefully that can continue this season,” Hardie added.
Hardie began his career with Rangers, making his debut in 2014. He later had loan spells with raith Rovers, Livingston, and St. Mirren. In July 2019, he moved to Blackpool before being loaned to Plymouth, where he contributed to their promotion from League Two.
