The 2026 Zhejiang Province City Football League, branded as the Wuyue Cup, officially commenced on April 6, 2026. Organized by the Zhejiang Football Association, the tournament represents a province-wide effort to expand grassroots participation in soccer and engage local communities through a structured city-based competition.

The league’s opening match took place at 3 pm on April 6 at the Jiaxing Sports Center Stadium. The fixture featured the host team, Jiaxing, facing off against Quzhou, marking the start of a competition that will run through mid-June.

The Wuyue Cup involves 11 city teams from across the province. The competition is divided into two primary stages: a round-robin phase and a subsequent knockout stage.

From April 6 to late May, the 11 teams compete in a single round-robin format utilizing a home-and-away system. This initial phase consists of 55 matches in total, with each team playing 10 matches—five at home and five away.

Following the conclusion of the round-robin stage, the top eight teams in the standings will advance to a knockout tournament scheduled for late May and mid-June. This final stage includes quarterfinals, semifinals, and a championship match, totaling seven single-elimination games to determine the tournament winner.

The league features a total of 627 players, with an average age of 24. The composition of the rosters highlights a strong emphasis on local talent and youth, as 74.6 percent of the players are local and 44.6 percent are students.

The branding of the league as the Wuyue Cup is intended to root the competition in regional identity. The name references the Wuyue kingdom, which was founded in 907 AD and had its capital in Hangzhou.

Organizers have stated that the tournament is designed to be a province-wide competition that fosters community engagement and provides a stage for grassroots players to showcase their skills.
