Warner Bros.’ adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel “Wuthering Heights” will begin streaming on HBO Max on Friday, May 1, 2026.
The film, directed by Emerald Fennell and starring Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, makes its debut on HBO linear the following day at 8:00 p.m. ET on May 2, 2026.
An American Sign Language version of the film will also stream exclusively on HBO Max, performed by ASL Dubbers Leila Hanaumi and Giovanni Maucere and directed by Justin Jackerson.
This release marks the first romance title available to stream in ASL on HBO Max with two dubbers.
The R-rated drama features a supporting cast that includes Hong Chau as housekeeper Nelly Dean, Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton, Martin Clunes as Mr. Earnshaw, and Ewan Mitchell in an unspecified role.
Fennell directed the film from her own script and also served as a producer alongside Josey McNamara and Margot Robbie. Tom Ackerley and Sara Desmond were executive producers on the project.
The adaptation amplifies the novel’s long-understated erotic and psychological tension, transforming the Yorkshire moors into a dark, operatic playground for desire, power, and revenge.
Warner Bros. Released the film in theaters in February 2026 prior to its streaming debut on HBO Max.
The streaming release follows Fennell’s recent success with the provocative hit “Saltburn,” which preceded her take on Brontë’s timeless story of forbidden passion, lust, love, and madness.
