West Virginia Department of Education Seeks User Feedback to Improve Online Resources
Charleston, WV – – The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) is actively soliciting feedback from users of its website in an effort to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of its online resources. A new feedback form has been implemented across various pages of the WVDE site, allowing visitors to quickly indicate whether a page was helpful and provide specific suggestions for improvement.
The initiative, announced today, reflects the WVDE’s commitment to transparency and responsiveness in serving the educational needs of West Virginia students, educators, and the public. According to a press release, the department recognizes the importance of a user-friendly website as a crucial tool for accessing vital information and support.
The feedback form presents users with a simple question: “Was this page helpful?” followed by a “yes” or “no” option. If a user indicates the page was not helpful, they are prompted to select a reason from a list including broken links, concerns about information quality, technical issues, or website usability problems. A free-text box is also provided for users to elaborate on how the page could be improved.
Conversely, users who found a page helpful are given the opportunity to share what specifically made it valuable. The WVDE emphasizes that this positive feedback is equally important, helping the department identify successful elements and replicate them across other areas of the website.
Users also have the option to submit their contact information, allowing the WVDE to follow up for further clarification or assistance. However, providing contact information is entirely optional to ensure user privacy.
The feedback collected will be reviewed monthly to identify areas for improvement. The WVDE also provides an employee directory for immediate assistance. This new system is part of a broader trend in digital government, where agencies are increasingly prioritizing user-centered design and continuous improvement, according to the WVDE.
The WVDE’s efforts come as the department continues to focus on improving educational outcomes across the state. Recent reports indicate continued progress in county accountability, as highlighted by the West Virginia Department of Education. The department recently announced the finalists for the 2026 Teacher of the Year award, demonstrating a commitment to recognizing and supporting outstanding educators.
The WVDE encourages all users to take advantage of the new feedback form and contribute to the ongoing improvement of its online resources. The form can be found on pages throughout the WVDE website.
