WWE SmackDown Update: Damian Priest‘s Match Scrapped, Last Man Standing Match Announced
Tonight’s October 3 episode of WWE SmackDown featured a change to the advertised lineup. A match for Damian Priest against an unnamed opponent did not take place.
While the match was initially scheduled, priest did appear on the show, interfering in the United States Championship match between Sami Zayn and Aleister Black. This interference came after Carmelo Hayes attempted to answer Zayn’s open challenge, but was attacked by The Miz, allowing Black to step in as his replacement.
Priest distracted Black during the match, costing him the victory and then further assaulting him by putting him through the announce table.
Later,Priest was confronted backstage by Kit Wilson,who he has repeatedly targeted. Wilson vowed to challenge Priest’s behavior. Priest responded by physically pushing Wilson’s wheelchair, then announced he will face Black in a Last Man Standing match on next week’s SmackDown, which will be held in Perth, Australia, as a lead-in to Crown Jewel.
WWE offered no description for the cancellation of Priest’s originally scheduled match.
