Knight Seeks rollins, Asuka Advances on SmackDown

The June 20, 2025, edition of smackdown, held at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, saw the build toward Night of Champions intensify. Commentators Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett guided viewers through a night highlighted by Queen of the Ring tournament action and a confrontation involving LA Knight.
LA knight opened the show, expressing his desire to face Seth Rollins.Paul Heyman appeared instead, acknowledging Knight’s talent but relaying a warning from Rollins: Knight should leave town or face consequences. Knight dismissed Heyman as a “grifter” and challenged him to a fight.Heyman declined, and Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker attacked Knight, who fought back with a chair.
Later, it was announced that Knight would face Reed in a match, seemingly part of Heyman’s plan.
Queen of the Ring Semifinal
Asuka defeated Alexa Bliss in a Queen of the Ring tournament semifinal match. Bliss started strong, but Asuka quickly retaliated.After a commercial break, Asuka countered Bliss’ Sister Abigail DDT attempt. Bliss missed a Twisted Bliss,and Asuka capitalized with the Empress Impact for the win after nine minutes.
Jade Cargill said she was impressed by Asuka and ready for Roxanne Perez in the other semifinal. Cargill declared she was ready to “reign.”
In a backstage segment, Chelsea Green mocked Bliss’ loss, prompting a threat from Charlotte Flair. Bliss rejected Charlotte’s offer of help.
Aleister Black was set to face Kit Wilson,but R-Truth attacked Wilson during Black’s entrance,applying the STF submission hold. R-Truth demanded John Cena appear, but agents intervened. Black stood by as R-Truth left, and the match did not occur.
