Teh July 4 episode of WWE SmackDown,taped Monday at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh,PA,promises high-stakes drama as the show returns to its weekly two-hour format. The event saw Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Drew McIntyre embroiled in heated confrontations, setting the stage for future matches.
Rhodes opened the show, only to be interrupted by Orton, who expressed reservations about attacking Rhodes at Night of Champions. Rhodes than declared his intention to defeat John Cena at SummerSlam. McIntyre entered the fray, attempting to sow discord between Orton and Rhodes, but Orton ultimately laid out mcintyre.
In a backstage segment, Nick Aldis persuaded Charlotte Flair to team with Alexa Bliss against Secret Hervice for a chance to compete in the four-way Women’s Tag Team title match at Evolution 2. Aldis also arranged a tag team match pitting Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso against two members of Solo Sikoa’s group.
Flair and Bliss later defeated Secret hervice, securing their spot in the Evolution 2 match. McIntyre and Orton are scheduled for a match July 12 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.
The Wyatt sicks defeated Johnny Gargano, Berto, Montez Ford, and Chris Sabin.
WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton addressed her upcoming SummerSlam match with Jade Cargill but expressed her desire to defend her title at Evolution 2 against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Stratus then appeared, exchanging words with Stratton to confirm the match.
