Solo Sikoa and tama Tonga Win WWE Tag Team Titles From Wyatt sicks – The WWE Tag Team Championship picture on SmackDown was turned upside down on the January 23 edition of the show, as the MFT faction’s Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga defeated the Wyatt Sicks to become new champions in a match filled with chaos, interference, and a stunning finish.
The bout opened with Tama Tonga and Joe Gacy, with Tonga landing early right hands and a body slam to gain control. Solo Sikoa quickly entered the match, continuing the aggressive approach with strikes before tagging Tonga back in.The Wyatt Sicks responded when gacy fought back and brought Dexter Lumis into the match,shifting momentum with a dropkick and monkey flip that sent Solo reeling.
Lumis kept the pressure on, knocking both challengers to the outside and allowing the Wyatt Sicks to hit synchronized splashes from the ring to the floor. Solo attempted to regain control with a running hip attack,but Lumis avoided it and countered with a back suplex. Gacy re-entered and strung together a series of kicks and suplexes, momentarily overwhelming both members of MFT.
As the match progressed, interference began to play a major role.Lumis nearly secured the victory after a frog splash on Tama Tonga, but outside involvement from JC Mateo, Tonga Loa, and Erick Rowan prevented the finish. Rowan attempted to neutralize the numbers advantage, only for Tala Tonga to appear with the Wyatt Sicks’ lantern and lay Rowan out with a big boot.
The turning point came when Uncle Howdy applied the Mandible Claw to Tala Tonga, only for Solo Sikoa to intervene with a Samoan Spike. With the referee distracted, Solo used the lantern as a weapon on Lumis, setting up Tama Tonga to hit the Cut Throat clothesline and score the pinfall victory.
Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga are now the WWE Tag Team Champions, a shocking title change occurring just one week before the Royal Rumble. With the Wyatt sicks losing both their championships and their symbolic lantern in controversial fashion, this rivalry appears far from over.
