Evans,who recently turned 53,was scheduled to perform in Liverpool as part of the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.Though, the tenor’s recent apology stems from a sexualized comment directed at a woman during the tour’s Birmingham launch on Jan. 16, as reported by the Mail on Sunday. Tour producers reportedly issued a warning to Evans regarding the remark.
The incident involving Katya Jones, his Strictly Come Dancing partner, occurred last October. Jones defended Evans after cameras captured her moving his hand from her waist and then seemingly snubbing his high-five attempt. Some viewers questioned whether this indicated inappropriate behavior. The BBC’s welfare team investigated and determined no further action was necessary.
Jones addressed the situation on the show It Takes Two, stating that the incident was an inside joke between her and Evans and that she was not offended. Evans acknowledged that the moment could have been misinterpreted.
