Xi Jinping Attends APEC Meeting and Chancay Port Ceremony
On November 15, 2024, President Xi Jinping arrived in Peru to participate in the APEC Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ Informal Meeting. Alongside his visit, he engaged in discussions with Peru’s President and jointly attended the opening ceremony for the Chancay Port project via video link from the Presidential Palace.
During the ceremony, Xi Jinping expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with Peru to develop the “Yala New Land-Sea Corridor,” which will originate from Chancay Port. This project is part of China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, aiming to strengthen connectivity and trade partnerships in the region.
The event signifies China’s commitment to enhancing its economic ties with Peru and bolstering infrastructure projects that benefit both nations.
