Xiamen Unveils ‘Protecting People’s Livelihood’ Initiative: A New Era for Urban Development
Xiamen Holds Press Conference on Special Action to “Protect People’s Livelihood”
Focus on vulnerable groups to improve case handling quality and efficiency
Protecting People’s Livelihood
Xiamen Daily (Reporter Zhang Jun, Correspondent Li Qiuyun) Yesterday, Xiamen held a press conference on the special action of “Protecting People’s Livelihood”.
At the meeting, it was introduced that since February this year, the city’s procuratorial organs have continued to implement and improve various tasks of “protecting people’s livelihood”.
Case Handling and Prosecution
This year, the city’s procuratorial organs have handled 271 prosecutions involving migrant workers in support of wage claims, helped 282 workers recover more than 13 million yuan in labor remuneration, and prosecuted 129 crimes against 159 people involving vulnerable groups such as women, the elderly, and the disabled.
The Municipal Procuratorate, in conjunction with nine departments including the court, the Bureau of Veterans Affairs, the Women’s Federation, and the Disabled Persons’ Federation, established a “1+9” procuratorial support and prosecution cooperation mechanism, handled 84 cases in support of prosecution, and helped obtain compensation of more than 9.4 million yuan.
Support for New Employment Groups
In order to protect the rights and interests of new employment groups such as food delivery riders and live broadcast anchors, the Xiamen Procuratorate has effectively improved the quality and efficiency of case handling for such workers through multi-party linkage and comprehensive performance of duties.
In response to frequent labor rights issues in new industries such as wage arrears and work-related injury disputes, the procuratorate has established a “green channel” to support prosecution, adopted a case handling model of “assignment guidance + regular consultation + follow-up supervision”, and worked with administrative, judicial and other departments to create a “support for prosecution” +N” duty performance mode.
Assistance for Victims’ Families
So far, the city has handled 30 cases involving 30 people involved in supporting prosecutions of new employment groups such as e-commerce and the sharing economy.
In view of the frequent work-related accidents among couriers and takeaways, and the poverty of families due to cases, we actively contacted and guided the victims’ close relatives to apply for judicial assistance, and cooperated with the Women’s Federation and other units to carry out return visits and post-case assistance, and distributed 250,000 judicial assistance funds.
