The Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Hardware Comparison
For users seeking higher performance and specialized photography tools, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra offers significant hardware upgrades over both the base Xiaomi 17 and the iPhone 17. The Ultra model features a larger 6.9-inch screen and a substantial 6,800 mAh battery, which is approximately 1.84 times the capacity of the iPhone 17’s 3,692 mAh battery.
The Ultra’s camera system is designed for professional-grade mobile photography, featuring a main camera with 200MP, complemented by two 50MP sensors. This represents a significant increase in megapixel count compared to the iPhone 17’s 48MP sensors. The front-facing camera on the Ultra is 50MP, compared to 18MP on the iPhone 17.
In terms of processing power and memory, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra includes up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Its CPU speed is reported to be 1.67 times faster than that of the iPhone 17, with a configuration of 2 cores at 4.6 GHz and 6 cores at 3.62 GHz.
Competitive Positioning Against iPhone 17
The iPhone 17 serves as the primary benchmark for the Xiaomi 17 series. In India, the iPhone 17 starts at ₹82,900 for 256GB of storage and reaches ₹1,02,900 for 512GB, available in Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White, and Black.
While the Xiaomi 17 Ultra leads in battery capacity, RAM, and raw megapixel counts, the iPhone 17 maintains advantages in specific areas. These include a higher pixel density of 460 ppi compared to 416 ppi on the Ultra, a lighter chassis weighing 177g versus 230g, and official waterproof certification.
The Xiaomi 17 series represents a strategic push by the company to challenge Apple’s dominance in the premium smartphone segment through aggressive hardware specifications and high-end camera partnerships.
