What Happened: Xiaomi’s Global Smart Home Push

Xiaomi has revealed its global ambitions for its smart home business, with the Chinese tech giant announcing ⁤the launch of its first wave⁤ of Mijia major appliances outside of china.

The launch, which was part of a wider declaration at an event in Munich this week, includes the mijia Air Conditioner Pro⁤ Eco Series, Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer Pro 9kg, and the hefty Mijia⁤ Refrigerator Cross Door 502L.

Xiaomi has been ⁤selling white goods in China ‍since 2013, quietly becoming a heavyweight in its homeland.

In Q1 2025, shipments⁢ of its air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines each grew more than 65% year-on-year, helping the brand secure fourth place in all three categories.

Now, for the⁤ first time, Xiaomi is all set to push that momentum abroad.

The “Human × Car ⁣× Home” Strategy

“This ⁢launch is a vital milestone in expanding our Human × Car × Home strategy ⁢into global markets,” Angus Ng, xiaomi’s Director of International Communications told me.

“It brings ‘Home’ into the international mix and shows how our ecosystem translates beyond phones,” ⁣he added.

The Role of AI: From Connected to adaptive

this being 2025, of course there’s an AI-angle to launch,⁣ with Ng ⁢telling me that the company wants to move beyond “connected” and into “adaptive.”

“AI plays a central role in redefining the user experience across our⁤ appliances,” he explained.

Ng explained how⁤ the Mijia Air Conditioner Pro Eco, for example,⁤ personalizes its user settings by using advanced algorithms to learn user preferences and automatically adjust cooling or ‍heating settings based on daily habits and real-time environmental sensing.
