Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Aims to Outpace Tesla Model Y

Xiaomi is entering the electric SUV market with the YU7, a new electric car designed to rival Tesla’s Model Y.
The YU7 emphasizes extended range and robust power, potentially alleviating range anxiety for EV enthusiasts.
The official launch, including pricing, is scheduled for July in China.
The YU7 will come in Standard, Pro, and Max versions, with the latter two featuring all-wheel drive. Xiaomi
revealed the YU7 more than a year after deliveries of its SU7 model began.
Xiaomi YU7: Size and Range
The Xiaomi YU7 is a mid- to large-size SUV, measuring 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, and 1,608 mm tall, with a
3,000 mm wheelbase. The Model Y’s China variant is smaller. The YU7 Pro and Max variants weigh 2,405 kg.
The Standard and Pro versions of the YU7 have a 96.3 kWh battery, exceeding the Model Y Long Range’s 80 kWh
battery. Xiaomi estimates the Standard YU7’s CLTC range at 835 km, which is 242 km more than the Model Y’s rear-wheel
drive version and 116 km more than the Long Range variant. Real-world WLTP range remains to be seen.
The Standard Xiaomi YU7 delivers 315 horsepower, while the Pro and Max versions output 681 horsepower. Top
speeds range from 240 to 253 km/h, depending on the variant.The Standard YU7 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in
5.8 seconds. The Pro version achieves this in 4.3 seconds, matching the Model Y Long Range, while the YU7 Max
hits it in 3.2 seconds.

The YU7 incorporates design elements from the SU7, including waterdrop headlights and prominent halo
taillights. Inside, the electric SUV features a leather interior, zero-gravity front seats, and a panoramic
display called “HyperVision.” the infotainment system runs on HyperOS,powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
Nine exterior colors are available, including Orange, green, and Silver Titanium.
For autonomous driving, the Xiaomi YU7 uses an Nvidia Thor chipset, providing 700 TOPS of neural computing
power, similar to the SU7. All models use an 800V platform, enabling rapid charging of 620 km of range in 15
minutes.
What’s next
Xiaomi anticipates shipping the YU7 by July 2025. Pricing details are still under wraps, but the company
suggests it will be competitively priced. For reference, Tesla’s Model Y RWD is priced at CNY 263,500
(approximately $36,575 USD).
