On the night of Wednesday january 7 to Thursday January 8, convoys of Rural Coordination (CR) from the departments of Landes, Pyrénées Atlantique, Lot-et-Garonne and Gironde converged on Bassens, near Bordeaux, to block the oil storage site, despite the ban on tractor convoys put in place by the prefect of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Etienne Guyot. Several roundabouts on the site are closed to traffic, and diversions have been put in place.

Since early Thursday morning, no tanker trucks have left the Bassens depot, which provides logistics services on behalf of the various petroleum product distributors. It manages the reception, storage and loading of fuels, biofuels, additives for service stations, resellers and for aviation, for a volume which corresponds to 5% of the volume consumed in France.
