On the night of Wednesday january 7 to Thursday January 8, convoys of Rural ⁤Coordination (CR) from the departments of Landes,​ Pyrénées Atlantique, Lot-et-Garonne‌ and Gironde converged on Bassens, near Bordeaux,‍ to block ‌the oil ⁣storage site, despite the ban on tractor convoys put in place by the prefect of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Etienne Guyot. Several roundabouts on the site are closed to traffic, and diversions have been put in ​place.

Since early Thursday morning, no tanker trucks have left the Bassens depot, which⁤ provides logistics services on behalf of the various petroleum product​ distributors. It manages the reception, storage and⁣ loading of fuels, biofuels, additives for⁢ service stations, resellers‍ and for aviation, for a volume which corresponds to 5% of‌ the volume consumed in ‍France.
