Navigating Loss and Reinvention: The Story of a Musician
At the end of 2017,the artist experienced a profound personal loss with the death of her father,a figure with whom she shared a lifelong passion for music. This loss occurred shortly before she was to reach the age of forty. The period following her father’s death was marked by self-doubt and a reevaluation of both her personal and professional life.
Having once envisioned herself as “mozart in the feminine” as a child, she began to question the realization of her dreams, asking herself, “What did I have of my dreams?” This prompted a period of intense introspection, leading her to seek emancipation and creative independence. She decided to release an album independently, without the collaboration of David Donatien, resulting in Nightsongs (2020).
However, the release of Nightsongs coincided with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly impacting its reception and ultimately leading to its commercial underperformance.
