Yago Dora made a splash at Lower Trestles, securing his first victory at the famed break. The goofy-footed surfer took down a series of regular-footed competitors,including Ethan ewing,Griffin Colapinto,and Kanoa Igarashi,to seize the Lexus Trestles Pro title. Dora is the first goofy-footed male surfer to win at the location since Luke Egan in 2002.

Dora’s path to victory included posting the highest heat score of the event in the final, a 17.90, besting Igarashi’s 16.07. His success was attributed to his mastery of the air-to-turn-to-air combination.
The quarterfinal match between Dora and Ewing showcased contrasting styles, with Ewing’s turns nearly clinching the heat. However, Dora landed a tail-high air on a left-hand wave in the final minute to advance.
In other quarterfinal action,Jack Robinson delivered a strong performance against Cole Houshmand,while Igarashi edged out Connor O’Leary.

Molly Picklum had a standout performance in the women’s division, earning her first career win against Caity Simmers. Picklum scored a 9.60 after going vertical on a large overhead wave.

The first men’s semifinal saw Dora initially dominate against Colapinto with a tweaked reverse and a backside Indy. Despite a near-miss on the landing of the Indy, Dora ultimately secured the win with two airs on a left, earning an 8.90.

Igarashi’s semifinal against Robinson was marked by flow and speed, earning him an 8.77 with a mix of carves and tail slides.Robinson’s final attempt fell short, allowing Igarashi to advance to the final.
