NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge, along with Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger, launched home runs on teh first three pitches thrown by Néstor Cortés. Judge added two more home runs as the New york Yankees set a team record with nine homers in a 20-9 rout of the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
Judge hit a solo home run, his ninth career grand slam, and a two-run shot in his 40th multi-homer game, and his third with three home runs. He finished with a personal-best eight RBIs.
He nearly became the 19th player to hit four home runs in a game,but his deep drive in the sixth inning was caught at the warning track in right field for a run-scoring double.
Goldschmidt, Bellinger, and Judge homered on the first three pitches of the game. Major League Baseball reports that this was the first time a team has hit home runs on the first three pitches of a game as pitch tracking began in 1988.
Austin Wells, Anthony Volpe, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Oswald Peraza also contributed home runs.
Cortés (0-1), who was traded from the Yankees in December, surrendered eight runs on six hits and walked five in two innings in his debut with the Brewers.
For the brewers, Jackson Chourio went 2-for-6 with a run scored and one RBI, while William Contreras was 1-for-4.
