Ryan Yarbrough held the Los Angeles Dodgers’ potent offense in check, and Ben Rice delivered a tie-breaking home run as the New York Yankees defeated the Dodgers 7-3 on Sunday.The Yankees salvaged the final game of the series, preventing a sweep after dropping the first two contests.
The Dodgers had dominated the series early, outscoring the Yankees 26-7, including an 18-2 victory Saturday. However, Yoshinobu Yamamoto struggled on Sunday in front of a season-high crowd at Dodger Stadium.
Yarbrough (3-0), a former Dodgers reliever, pitched six innings, allowing one run and striking out five. Yamamoto (6-4) lasted just 3 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs on a season-high seven hits.

DJ LeMahieu had a standout performance for New York, recording his first four-hit game since 2021. Jasson Dominguez left the game with a bruised left thumb after contributing an RBI single in the first inning.
Tommy Edman briefly tied the game with a two-run homer in the second. Rice’s homer in the third, a 425-foot shot to centre field, put the Yankees ahead. Anthony Volpe also scored in the third on a wild pitch by Yamamoto.
