Former Indonesian Minister Exits KPK Through Back Door amidst Protests
Jakarta, Indonesia – Former Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly departed the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building through a back exit on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, following questioning related to the bribery case involving the alleged vote-buying scheme for legislative seat replacement (PAW) that ensnared Harun Masiku.
Laoly explained his unconventional exit, stating, “I had to use the back door as there was a demonstration happening in front of the KPK building.”
The former minister, who was questioned in his capacity as Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and former Minister of Law and Human Rights, revealed that investigators did not inquire about Harun masiku’s whereabouts.
“I was questioned in my capacity as Chairman of the PDI-P and as a former minister,” Laoly stated.
Laoly arrived at the KPK headquarters earlier that day to comply with a summons related to the bribery scandal involving Harun Masiku, a former PDI-P member.
Arriving in a black car,Laoly,dressed in a white shirt and brown jacket,carried a blue folder. He briefly greeted reporters before taking a seat in the KPK lobby, declining further comment.
