Yemen Stuns Bahrain in gulf Cup Upset
Kuwait City, Kuwait – In a stunning upset, Yemen defeated Bahrain 2-1 in a thrilling Group Two match at the Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium on Saturday evening. The victory marks Yemen’s first win in the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup, also known as “Gulf 26.”
Yemen’s Nasser Mohammed Dauda opened the scoring in the 41st minute, giving his team a crucial lead heading into halftime. Bahrain fought back in the second half, with Mohammed Al-Rumaihi equalizing in the 62nd minute. Though, Haroon Yusuf Al-Zubaidi secured the victory for Yemen with a late goal in the 88th minute.
Adding to Bahrain’s woes, Syed Mahdi Baqir was sent off in the match, leaving the team to play with ten men for the remainder of the game.
