Yemen Takes to the Skies: Musk Launches Revolutionary Starlink Satellite Internet Services
Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite Internet Service Now Available in Yemen
Canadian-American businessman Elon Musk has announced the official operation of the “Starlink” satellite Internet service in Yemen, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital landscape.
Musk took to social media to share the news, retweeting his company’s announcement that “Starlink is now available in Yemen!”, signaling that the service is now accessible to users across the country.
The General Communications Corporation also confirmed the launch on its Facebook page, stating that “Starlink service has been officially activated in the territory of the Republic of Yemen.”
The corporation emphasized the significance of this development, saying “The future of the Internet in Yemen is in your hands… Get ready for an unparalleled Internet experience.”
Starlink has set a price for the service at 87 thousand Yemeni Riyals, although the General Telecommunications Corporation, the official agent of the service in Yemen, has yet to announce the approved price. This delay has sparked controversy, with many questioning the pricing strategy.
The controversy stems from the fact that the price declared by Starlink is based on the exchange rate of the Yemeni currency prior to the war started by the Houthi militia.
The Yemeni government initially announced the launch of the “Starlink” satellite internet service in Yemen last August, following the completion of all necessary procedures. The service promises to provide high-quality satellite internet at a competitive price, catering to all categories of users.
