Yeonbyeonju Athletes Gear Up for National Minority Sports Showdown

From November 20th to 30th, the 12th National Minority Traditional Sports Festival will be held in Sanya City, Hainan Province. Yanbian University‘s National Health Gymnastics Training Center was bustling with activity on the afternoon of the 5th as players prepared for the national health gymnastics event at the festival.
A representative from the Yanbian Ethnic Affairs Committee shared, “At this sports day, Yanbian will participate in four sports events: swing, ethnic health gymnastics, ethnic wrestling, and ethnic martial arts. We’ll also have four expressive events including running with a water bucket, neolttwigi, Korean-Chinese tug-of-war, and yutnori.” They continued, “Yanbian will be responsible for opening ceremony expressions and national dance performances, with a total of 88 participants.” Under the strong support of the Jilin Provincial Ethnic Affairs Committee, the State Ethnic Work Committee meticulously arranged and planned the preparation work. All sports have entered the final intensive training phase. Athletes are brimming with confidence and high fighting spirit, aiming for excellent results in the competition.
National health gymnastics combines dance movements from various ethnic groups. Yanbian will send 16 athletes to participate in both prescribed and optional movements. “Let’s all move straight and strong!” Yanbian University National Health Gymnastics Team leader Wang Il-jung instructed his athletes, who demonstrated vitality and the uplifting spirit of young people in the new era.
National health gymnast Li Ji-hong stated, “We have been actively preparing and undergoing scientific training to achieve excellent results at this sports meet.” He added, “Through this event, we aim to elevate our skills, foster friendships, and cultivate the positive spirit of Yanbian youth. We are confident in showcasing our best performance,” he expressed.
