YONGIN, South Korea (April 13, 2025) – The Yongin Special City Health Center commemorated the 53rd annual Health Day with a ceremony at the Culture & Arts Center, recognizing contributions to public health.
health Day Event Highlights
The event, held April 7, marked the 30th anniversary of revisions to the National Health Promotion Act. It celebrated individuals dedicated to improving the health and well-being of local residents. The theme of the event was “30 years of health footsteps and a leap forward with a healthy future.”
More than 150 people, including local citizens and healthcare workers, attended the celebration. The event featured pre-ceremony performances of Samulnori, a customary Korean percussion ensemble, and folk songs.
Awards and recognition
during the ceremony, 19 individuals were recognized for thier service in the health and medical fields. Nine civil servants and seven civilians received citations from the Yongin Mayor, while three civilians were honored by the chairman of the Yongin City Council.
Public Health initiatives
The Health Center also hosted a promotional booth to inform citizens about various ongoing projects. These initiatives include programs focused on oral health,smoking cessation,cardiovascular disease prevention,and the progress of a healthy city surroundings.
Mayor’s address
Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il acknowledged the dedication of healthcare workers, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. “As the entire country and the world were in an emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone working in the health and medical field has worked hard for more than three years to prevent the spread and treat infectious diseases,” lee said. “The efforts of our public officials and all those working in health and medical care are very crucial.”
Health Week Activities
In conjunction with Health Day, the city health center organized a “Health Week” from April 7-11. The week featured various health promotion programs, including blood vessel screenings, mobile dental services, and initiatives related to allergy-free environments.
