YouTube Shorts SEO: Google Search Update
google Lens Integration Arrives on YouTube Shorts for Beta Testers
YouTube Shorts is getting a boost from Google Lens. Google announced that Google Lens integration is arriving for YouTube Shorts, initially for beta testers. This new feature lets users find more information about items they see within a Short.
Beta testers should see the feature become available this week. Users can access Google Lens by pausing a Short, selecting the Lens option from the top menu, and then tapping on the specific element in the video they want to learn more about. Google will then provide relevant search results directly on top of the Short.
During the beta phase, the search results will not include advertisements. However, this is expected to change once the feature is fully released. Google also stated that the Lens experience will not be available for Shorts with YouTube Shopping affiliate links or paid product promotions.
The Google Lens integration will be available on both Android and iOS apps. A translate button is also included when Google Lens is activated, even in the beta version.
The timeline for a full release to the stable channel remains unknown. However, given the functionality of the beta version, a wider rollout is anticipated soon, barring unforeseen issues.
What’s next
As the beta testing progresses, Google will likely gather user feedback and refine the Google Lens integration before a wider release. Keep an eye out for updates on the stable channel in the coming weeks.
