Atlanta, GA – Deamonte Kendrick, the rapper known as Yak Gotti, was stabbed in a fight at the Fulton County Jail Sunday, but his lawyer says he will be present in court Monday as jurors resume deliberations in his case.
Kendrick, along with Shannon Stillwell, is facing charges including gang activity, murder, drug offenses, and gun charges. They are two of 28 people indicted alongside rapper Young thug in May 2022.”My client was involved in an altercation and sustained minor injuries from a sharp object,” said Kendrick’s attorney, Doug Weinstein. “He received medical attention and is expected to be in court tomorrow.”
Natalie Ammons, spokesperson for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed the incident, stating that Kendrick and another detainee were involved in a fight at the jail’s south annex in Union City, Georgia. An inquiry into the altercation is ongoing.
