YSRCP MP Midhun Reddy Arrested in Connection with Alleged Liquor Scam
Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – YSRCP Member of parliament, PV Midhun Reddy, was arrested by the special Examination Team (SIT) on Thursday evening in connection with the alleged liquor scam that occurred during the previous YSRCP regime. The arrest took place in Vijayawada after Reddy was questioned for several hours by the SIT.
SIT Grills MP Reddy, Leads to Arrest
The SIT, which is actively probing the alleged liquor scam, interrogated Midhun Reddy for an extended period. The MP, who represents the Rajampet constituency in both the 16th and 17th lok Sabha, arrived in Vijayawada on Thursday specifically to attend the inquiry.His questioning follows the earlier arrests of other individuals implicated in the case, including Dhanunjay Reddy, Krishna Mohan Reddy, and Balaji Govindappa.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha confirmed the arrest to PTI, stating, “Yes (he has been arrested). The process (to produce him before a court) is going on.”
YSRCP Alleges vindictive Politics, Vows to Fight back
In response to the arrest, the opposition YSRCP has strongly criticized the current Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of engaging in vindictive politics and orchestrating “false” cases against individuals close to YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Senior YSRCP leader Malladi Vishnu issued a statement,characterizing the case against Midhun Reddy as part of a broader conspiracy aimed at targeting those associated with the party leadership.”But we will bounce back to call the bluff of Chandrababu Naidu,” Vishnu asserted. He further added that the YSRCP’s resolve to expose the “failures and corruption” of the coalition government woudl only strengthen with each vindictive action taken by the Naidu administration.
Another senior YSRCP leader, L Appi Reddy, highlighted Midhun Reddy’s family’s meaningful political legacy. “I am confident that justice will prevail and that the judiciary will act fairly. His decision to attend the inquiry shows his determination to prove his innocence and his respect for the rule of law,” PTI quoted Appi Reddy as saying.
