Price Freeze announcement
Yuno Energy announced a price freeze for its electricity and gas customers, effective instantly and lasting until at least the start of March. This decision aims too provide stability for its 65,000 customer accounts during the winter months.
The move follows a similar announcement by Yuno Energy’s sister company, PrepayPower, also freezing prices for the winter period.
Context of Rising Energy Costs
Yuno Energy’s decision contrasts with recent price increases announced by several other energy providers in Ireland, including SSE Airtricity,Bord Gáis Energy,Energia,Pinergy, and Flogas. However, Electric Ireland has maintained its electricity prices and even lowered its gas prices.
Customer Impact and Savings
According to Yuno Energy, customers switching to their service for both electricity and gas could save up to €945 annually, with potential savings of €551 on electricity and €384 on gas, based on average usage.
Cathal Fay, chief executive of Yuno Energy, stated the company anticipates increased price sensitivity among customers due to the absence of universal energy credits this winter. he added that the price freeze is intended to reassure both current and prospective customers about energy cost predictability during the coming months.
