SEATTLE, Wash. — Baseball America announced today that Mariners Class-A Modesto Nuts manager Zach Vincej has been named the publication’s 2024 Minor League Manager of the Year.
Vincej (VINCE-ee), 33, led the Mariners Class-A affiliate to a 73–57 record (.562) in 2024 and the club’s second consecutive California League Championship.
“Zach is incredibly deserving of this award. Through his ability to teach and lead, our players were able to become better people, better players, and ultimately champions,” said Mariners Vice President, Assistant General Manager Andy McKay. “Zach winning this prestigious award further validates our core belief that our individual accomplishments are the result of dedicating ourselves to helping others.”
Vincej led Modesto to its first back-to-back championships in the 77-year history of the franchise. Vincej spent the 2022 season as a coach for Triple-A Tacoma, before joining Class-A Modesto as manager prior to the 2023 season. In his 2 seasons at the helm for the Nuts, Vincej owns a 150–112 record (.573) and has won the Cal League Championship in both seasons.
Prior to his coaching career, Vincej appeared in 8 professional seasons as an infielder, including 10 Major League games between the Cincinnati Reds (2017) and Seattle Mariners (2018). He played in one game with Seattle on Aug. 1, 2018 vs. Houston, starting at third base and going 2-for-4 with an RBI. He was originally selected by the Reds in the 37th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Pepperdine University (CA).
